     RIPENING DATES ARE DIFFICULT TO PREDICT BECAUSE WEATHER MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE.  WE USUALLY BEGIN PEACH HARVEST EARLY AUGUST AND IF ALL GOES WELL WE ARE PICKING PEACHES UNTIL EARLY SEPTEMBER

 HOW TO PICK PEACHES AND OTHER USEFULL INFO

as with other fruit cradle peach in your hand and lift it up,

if you grab it with your fingers and pull down it will hold on for dear life and it will bruise

we usually have you drive up to the peaches to park closer

watch out! for sprinkler pipe   

 you can not drive over them without breaking them

some peaches have a red base and some green

they both ripen to yellow so the first indication that they are ripe is a yellow spot

then feel near the stem to see if it is a little soft, if is is, it is ripe

if the entire peach is soft it is overripe AND

if that is what you want ok, if not keep looking

there will be green and ripe peaches on the same tree

it's ok to taste a peach or two, if it is sweet it will ripen in the box even if it is firm

arrive early and it will not be so hot, we are around and will find you in the parking area

I'm usually in the yard or garden west of the yard early in the day.

bring water and drink it when it's hot

the irrigation water is not safe to drink, it is river water

the hand washing sinks have water that is safe to drink

You can use the irrigation water to cool off in but do not dismantle the sprinklers .

you may use our buckets to pick in

bring a box or buy one from us

we have porta potties, if you prefer we have a bathroom at our market on Hwy 12,

or the park in Naches has some decent bathrooms

 when we are open for upick you do not need an appointment

 Peaches will sometimes suffer from "split pit" ,  when you open the peach the pit will be in pieces  and while the peach is ok to eat it  isn't ideal.  As you are picking these they are usually larger and lopsided often riper peaches.  There may even be an opening at the stem.  If you pick one that is open just toss it to the ground.

 There are plenty of good peaches out there.

RIPENS FIRST IN OUR SEASON.  SMALL, FLAT AND VERY SWEET, HAS WHITE FLESH AND A PINK BLUSH.  IS EXTREMELY DELICATE AND BRUISES EASILY.  THEY ARE DIFFICULT TO PICK WITHOUT TEARING THE SKIN AT THE STEM END.

RED HAVEN PEACH   finished for 25   

FULL SIZE PEACH , YELLOW FLESH AND SWEET TART FLAVOR.  SOME WILL CAN THESE BUT I WOULD NOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO BE SUPER RIPE TO BE  FREESTONE AND THAT IS TOO MUCH WORK.  THEY ARE HOWEVER EXCELLENT FOR FRESH EATING.  I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY ARE GOOD FOR FREEZING BUT I HAVE NEVER FROZEN PEACHES.

 ROSA PEACH  NOW PICKING

THIS IS THE FIRST OF THE PEACHES THAT I WOULD CONSIDER CANNING.  IT WILL BE FREESTONE WHEN FULLY RIPE AND HAS YELLOW FLESH AND A FAIRLY SOLID TEXTURE.  AS THE SEASON PROGRESSES THE VARIOUS PEACH VARIETIES SEEM TO GET LESS FIBROUS AND WILL HAVE A MORE MELTING TEXTURE.

DELP HALE PEACH    NOW PICKING

SOLID YELLOW PEACH WITH GOOD TEXTURE AND VERY SWEET WHEN RIPE.  A GOOD CANNER. UNFORTUNATELY WE HAVE VERY FEW DELP HALE TREES LEFT AND CANNOT FIND REPLACEMENTS SO WHILE WE WILL HAVE SOME , IT WILL BE A LIMITED CROP

GLOWHAVEN PEACH    now picking

  This is a new peach to us.  The description is sweet tart, a peach that does not brown easily and is a fine dessert peach.  I do not see that it is good for canning.  It does sound like it may freeze well.

 SUNCREST PEACH  FINISHED FOR 2024

THIS IS A WONDERFUL PEACH.  SOLID YELLOW FLESH AND VERY SWEET WHEN FULLY RIPE.  IT ALSO TRAVELS WELL FOR A PEACH.  THEY ARE SOMETIMES QUITE LARGE.  THESE ARE GOOD FOR CANNING AND ALL RIPE PEACHES ARE GOOD FOR FRESH EATING BUT THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES

WHITE PEACH  FINISHED FOR 2024

SUPER SWEET AND SUPER DELICATE , FLESH IS WHITE AND I WOULD SUGGEST PICKING THEM  ON THE FIRMER SIDE BECAUSE THEY LOVE TO BRUISE,  RIPENS MID TO LATE AUGUST

ELEGANT LADY PICKING  FINISHED FOR 2024

SOLID, GOOD FOR ALL USES, VERY TASTY PEACH AND IS NOT OVERLY DELICATE.  RIPENS MID TO LATE AUGUST

ELBERTA   FINISHED FOR 2024

CLASSIC CANNING PEACH, IT IS JUST A GREAT PEACH.  MELTING TEXTURE, SWEET AND VERY FREESTONE. GOOD FOR ALL USES.  OFTEN RIPE AROUND LABOR DAY
